I just started a page one rewrite. I’m glad I read this article. It feels like climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro a second time, but I feel this trip will be worth it. Helps to know about others who survived the journey and came out thriving with a masterpiece in their hands.
It’s tricky for new writers to reveal their authentic voices when most powerbrokers in the industry are hesitant to take risks, and rather have sequels instead. But if Peele, DuVernay, Jenkins, and others… found their voices after multiple tries, there’s hope.
