This was simply fantastic. Loads of great advice. Have a plan and center on the big contests. Network. Know the industry. Know what’s happening where, when and how. I ordered the book KILL THE DOG right away. And I will work my second job to get that subsciption to TRACKING B.
Wish I heard this years ago. Just signed up for Tracking B newsletter and saw Youtube clips about KILL THE DOG. Very helpful. Compliments to Crystal’s notetaking
Love this! Definitely good info. The statistics on how many scripts are registered with WGA vs how many sold is mind blowing. I’d like to learn more about ways to practice pitching me to prepare for those upcoming meetings. I like the question that you proposed to ask toward the end of a meeting. That’s a good one! Lots of good nuggets here, especially regarding Contracts and Legal Protections plus the types of writing agreements. Thank you.
I’ll need to listen to that podcast more than once! I learned so much about Coverfly, The Black List, etc! I bought the book recommended, Kill the Dog. Eye opener! Thank you!
Oh my gosh so many screenplays that are looked at and barely any are contracted.
There is so much I learned with this podcast:
No unsolicited submissions policy
Spec showing you can write circles around anyone.
Hire for the next rewrite.
I love, love, love the ambiance and the delivery behind this podcast
One or maybe two black writers at a time
Score at least an 8 on Blacklist
Don’t send it during the off seasons
Logline needs to be pristine.
Coverfly is great
Tracking Board
Write a great story
Know story codes
Showing that you understand
Story structure
Character
Dialogue
Psychology of persuasion
What are 3 things that would concern you in regards to moving forward with my script
Comps are recent (dated)
Comps that have good box office
The details on the contracts, is just wow. I am blown away.
This is so amazing and so in-depth.
My only feedback is continue to provide all of the information needed.
THANK YOU!
I’m so excited yall are doing this!
Looking forward to listening in on the upcoming podcasts.
