If it comes from a real place inside us, well executed,… it should hit the same cords within each person who experiences our work. On our journey as writers, we have experienced an ocean of emotions which we can draw on to make compelling characters. Your suggestions will make the process more attainable.
This a great post, David. I have been actively journaling for the past year, and it has really helped me. I love those craft hacks, especially the idea about writing a scene from your villain’s point of view, and doing a Breakfast Club style interview with your character!
This method writing goes pass the skin, to the bones and into the DNA bloodstream of creating a real experience.
I completely agree with this perspective on Method Writing. I try to tap deeply into emotions to truly feel how my characters would react in different situations. It’s that emotional connection that brings authenticity and depth to the story. Thanks, David, for sharing such a great insight on what it really means to write from the inside out.
