  • So much of this is a pure treasure. This gets down to the nitty gritty heart and soul of screenwriting. Of course, I experienced so many take aways from this incredible conversation and article. But the big ones that have always resonated with me ….

Action Lines: Keep action lines concise, ideally four lines or less before a blank line, to avoid intimidating the reader and ensure they don’t miss important details.
Transitions: Avoid overuse of transitions in spec scripts (except FADE IN and FADE OUT), as they can interrupt the flow of the story.
Brevity: Keep dialogue short and to the point. Every extra word that isn’t vital can cause the reader to disengage.
Visual Storytelling: Use imagery, actions, and settings rather than relying solely on dialogue to convey emotions and themes.

    Masterfully done, David. Masterfully done.

  • I’ll definitely visit the OBS library more often. What a wealth of knowledge! I love how AI Driven podcasts drill down on the courage to trust our instincts, find our voice, etc. The more I listen, the deeper I dig within.
