  • SEQUEL – FLASHDANCE

Flashdance was an amazing romantic dance movie starring Jennifer Beals as Alex Owens and Michael Nouri as her boyfriend, Nick Hurley. The film had love, romance, fun, spectacular dancing, some relationship drama, a big dance career challenge and an amazing happy ending. What if we could do it all over again, except with Alex and Nick facing life’s biggest challenge, their third act.

The two have been happily married for thirty years and have three grown children. Alex is now turning fifty and in the hospital with her husband, Nick, 60’s, who just suffered an unexpected heart attack. He tries to make a light-hearted conversation and the two reminisce about when they first met. Her exotic dancing captured his mind and it was an amazing journey to watch her fulfill her dreams of becoming a professional ballerina. However, he knows that she misses the old days of exotic dancing with her friends and he wants her to enjoy that experience again. She laughs making excuses. Her tummy bulge and a lot of junk in the trunk would never cut it. Her body just isn’t the same. Nick shares that he’d love to see her dance anyway because her passion shows through and she lights up the room. He makes her promise to start dancing again. She playfully promises but he is dead serious about her putting on a show with all her old friends, a reunion of sorts. After his unexpected death, she decides to keep her promise. During the wake, she shares her promise and encourages her old friends to rekindle their dreams too. After breaking out in laughter, they all agree to train together. The goal, to show the world that 50 is the new 20! There are so many bumps and bruises along the way but they all encourage each other to keep going. Even Ritchie, portrayed by Kyle T. Heffner, 50’s, now the club owner, creates some new jokes to share between the dance performances. During the live show, the audience cheers as they all give the best performances of their lives. The show is electrifying and hilarious. Alex and her girls are amazing and they each get a standing ovation.

As the credits roll, Alex adds more ice to each dancer’s ice bath to help with their ailments. As they moan, Richie keeps them laughing with his on the spot jokes. Everyone compliments him on how far he’s come. His jokes killed. They discuss how their entire show left the audience wanting more. Richie jokes, “What do you say we do this again next week? They all look at him and begin to throw ice cubes his way. After the short ice war, everyone settles and Richie turns to Alex. He asks, “What do you say?” Alex looks into the camera and bursts into laughter. Fade to Black and Credits continue.

REMAKE – FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF

FERRIS BUELLER, 17, chocolate smooth skin and a charismatic smile, is a few months away from graduation. He eyes a blurb on his calendar, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Ferris decides to create the best ever, self imposed, senior ditch day, in the history of Compton High. Determined to show the entire class that he is king for living life to the fullest, Ferris searches his computer for the best possible events in Los Angeles, Altadena, Malibu and the Palisades. With a full day planned, he secretly invites his girlfriend, SLOAN, and his best friend, CAMERON, to join him. Ferris then pretends to be sick and gets permission to stay home.

After the house is empty, the fun begins. Ferris arrives at Cameron’s to figure out their transportation dilemma. The only thing he can think of is his deceased grandfather’s old car under piles of stuff in the garage. Cameron doesn’t even know if it works because he’s never actually seen it. The pair head into the packed garage and almost faint after discovering an old two door 1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom under a tarp. They push it out and try to start it. Sloan exits the house next door and quickly puts her auto mechanic skills to work. Before long, they’re ready for the adventures ahead but first, they each must pretend to be a parent and leave a message on the automated attendance voicemail. The Dean at the school requests the list of absentees. Throughout the day, he decides to see if they’re all truly sick. He makes a few calls, visits their social media sites and even ventures to the mall.

An hourly clock marks the full-day adventures of Ferris, Sloan and Cameron. At 8:00 AM, breakfast at the famous Winchell’s big donut. 9:00 AM, a taping of The Price Is Right where Ferris wins a stash of cash. At 10:30 AM, they shop and have fun participating in a flashmob musical show at the Crenshaw Mall. Ferris performs center stage until the police arrive. Everyone scatters. At 11:30 AM, they watch as two men steal the Phantom and exit the mall parking lot but Ferris assures Cameron that all is well because he has an Apple Air Tag on his bag in the trunk. They take an Uber to follow the signal until the traffic gets bad. Ferris spots a bike rental store and they rent electric bikes to chase the thieves. After several stops, they land at a hidden chop shop with a restaurant front in Altadena. Cameron and Sloan order a big lunch to go while Ferris steals back the partially chopped car and its parts. At 1:00 pm, the trio head home just in time to bury the dismantled car back under the tarp. Ferris gets in bed as the Dean and his parents peek in.

We’re talking jet skis, sexy dreadlocked Rastas, and an ayahuasca ceremony at this all-inclusive event. The group is enjoying the tropical atmosphere until Lisa starts to suspect something is off about their mysterious host.

The catch is that the trip was booked by Elizabeth, who didn’t vet the client, and it turns out the retreat is hosted by a White woman trying to portray herself and her wellness brand as black-owned because her husband, a Black man, is her main investor and business partner. When Dina finds out, she takes the info to Ryan and Sasha, and they develop a plot to expose the couple and their brand and, in turn, give much-needed exposure to another attendee named Ebony and her Black-owned emerging skin and haircare brand.

    Remake:

    Jalil & Red’s Excellent Adventure

William “Jalil” S. Preston, Esq., and Ted “Red” Logan are two students at Dorsey High School in Baldwin Hills. Jalil has decided to unofficially change his name after reading the Autobiography of Malcolm X, and his best friend, Ted goes by Red due to his skin complexion, much like Malcolm X aka Detroit Red. The two are a rap duo known as Wyld Style, making tracks glamorizing drugs and violence in Red’s garage. The two are bright but uninterested in school, especially Mr. Higgin’s history class. Both are failing and are tasked with a special Black History Month presentation competition to salvage their grades and be allowed to graduate in the spring. If they fail, Red’s dad, the local police chief, will send Red to military school in Maryland and break up Wyld Style.

In the distant future, a citizen named Rufus (a Samuel Jackson-type) of a Utopia inspired by the music of Wyld Style is sent back in time in a phone booth (or something more contemporary, like electric scooters) to help the two ace their presentation. Rufus instructs Jalil and Red on their mission and gives them the time machine. They use it to pick historical Black figures, including Mansa Musa, Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, Duke Ellington, Marcus Garvey, Hannibal, Benjamin Banneker, and Bass Reeves. Their adventures through time teach the two about their culture. They realize their music needs to reflect their heritage instead of portraying a lifestyle neither of them live. The time travelers win the Black History Month presentation contest with help from their historical friends, and Jalil and Red even find love through their travels. Wyld Style and the future Utopia survives.

Dorner wakes up in a sterile white room, restrained. Around him, a group of elite Black operatives led by a Morpheus-like leader reveal the truth: they are Drop Squad, an underground force backed by extraterrestrial allies who have subtly aided Black progress since Roswell. Their mission? End the cycle of self-destruction plaguing Black communities worldwide.
And they have a secret weapon—Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G.
Rebuilt through cutting-edge AI and memory retrieval tech, Pac and Biggie have been resurrected, their consciousness restored into similar bodies, to complete the mission they were born for. They need a field general. Someone fearless. Someone with the heart of a warrior and the soul of a revolutionary. They need Dorner.
At first, Dorner resists. “I killed innocent people,” he says, wracked with guilt. But the leader assures him—his redemption began the moment he wept in that cabin. Now, he can do something real.

    • Monitor their transformation. If they slip? Drop Squad comes knocking.
From wild abductions to hilarious mind games, the film balances intense action with biting social commentary. A drug kingpin wakes up in a cell and demands a lawyer. “Who said you were in jail?” Tupac smirks.
One by one, the targets are reprogrammed and sent back out—until they start doing real work for their communities. But when old enemies try to take them down, Drop Squad steps in. The final showdown pits Dorner and his crew against the last, most dangerous puppetmasters—ensuring that change isn’t just an idea, but a revolution.
As they speed off, Biggie exhales smoke, grinning.
    “Man… I love this job.”
